Dr. Giano Ricci graduated in medicine and surgery and went on to specialize in dentistry at the University of Florence.
In 1972, he started his professional career in periodontology at Boston University, where after 2 years of study he obtained a Master of Science degree in periodontology. He moved back to Italy from the United States in 1974 and since then has specialized exclusively in periodontology in his practice in Florence. In 1986, he also began to work in the field of implantology.
During his stay in the United States, he was actively involved in studies and research in the field of histology and published a book entitled Periodontal Disease: A Didactic and Pictorial Review together with Henry Goldman and Morris Ruben (Boston University Press, 1975).
He is author of numerous publications in the periodontal field, co-authored the textbook Parodontologia (Martina, 2006), and contributed to the book by Claude Rufenacht “Fundamentals of Esthetics” (Quintessence, 1990) and “Osteointegrazione avanzata” (RC Libri, 2001) by Franco Santoro and Carlo Maiorana. He has recently written the book “Diagnosis and Periodontal Therapy” published by Quintessence (2014) and translated in English and Russian.
He has delivered lectures, reports, practical demonstrations, and refresher courses in periodontology, implantology, and esthetic dentistry in Europe, the United States, and Japan.
Member of numerous international scientific associations, active member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), honorary member of the Italian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AIOP). He is co-founder, past president, and active member of the Italian Society of Periodontology and Past President of the Europen Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED).
