No more drilling sound structure to reach the cavity. For its original purpose, Icon is a great help in early treatment of E1-D1 carious lesions, especially in posterior areas. Minimal invasiveness, maximum result.
Anterior, unaesthetic white spots are not an issue with ICON. By changing the refraction index of the white spot, ICON makes the lesion look just like sound enamel. Aesthetic meets micro-invasiveness.

STEP 1 – TOOTH SEPARATION
Teeth can easily and gently separated with a wedge, making room in the interproximal area for the ICON applicator.
STEP 2 – REDUCE THE LESION
ICON ETCH is a 15% hydrochloric acid gel, that can be easily placed thanks to the thin applicator, without etching the adjacent tooth. The etching process takes 120 seconds, than the gel is thoroughly washed.
STEP 3 – DRY IN AND OUT
Once the gel is completely rinsed, carefully dry the water. ICON DRY is a solution of ethanol, really helpful in completely dehydrating the area: apply for 30 seconds, then air-dry.
Posterior resin in infiltration and direct vision
Correctly documenting the procedure is very important as ICON resin is radio-translucent, as making it visible in x-rays would require a radiopaque filler that would increase its viscosity and affect wettability and penetrative properties.
PRE-OP SITUATION
A young lady is complaining about an ugly white spot on tooth 1.2; thanks to the infiltration protocol we are able to use a non-invasive technique.

ICON DRY FOR DRY AND PREVIEW FINAL RESULT
A simulation of the final result can be done with ICON DRY: after etching and rinsing, the ethanol solution helps you to make a previsualization of the result. The reason of this useful preview is that ICON DRY and ICON INFILTRANT have a similar refraction index.
ICON INFILTRANT IS APPLIED TWICE, CAREFULLY CURING EACH APPLICATION
If you’re not happy, you can repeat the etching process up till satisfing results is achieved and you can use the applicator to infiltrate with the resin.

To better understand the step by step let’s see a clinical case. The ICON etch gel is applied to infiltrate the lesion.
Use ICON dry after rising the etchant agent. This ethanol solution gives you a previsualization of the result. Thanks to the refraction index similar to that of ICON infiltrant.
If you’re not happy with the anticipated result, you can repeat the etching process up till satisfing results is achieved. In aesthetic areas, the micro-infiltration technique is the best attempt for both white and brown spots.
